The History of Bayfield Winery

Renate Hauser - also known as the Queen of Cider - is the owner and founder of Bayfield Winery which originated out of Hauser's Superior View Farm.
Hauser's Superior View Farm began with Grandpa Hauser selling perennial flowers and apples as a way to earn extra income for his family during the great depression. Today, Hauser's Superior View Farm is one of the largest producers of northern field grown perennial flowers in the country. They also have over 2000 apple trees on 30 acres of land, growing many varieties of apples.

In 1988, Hauser's began a jam kitchen called "A Little Bit of Country." From there comes such delectable delights as blackberry, blueberry, strawberry,  and cherry jam. You can also find plum jelly, raspberry jelly and apple butter. A big hit has been apple syrup, which also makes a mouth watering ice cream topping. Everything from "A Little Bit of Country" is homemade, locally grown, and state approved.

Bayfield Winery began fermenting their first batch of wine in the fall of 1995.  They used old bulk milk tanks in the converted packing shed.  In 1996, with 4 flavors of apple wine, they began selling wine in the historic red barn.  There are now 13 varieties of wines from very dry to very sweet all from different varieties of apples, pears and fruits.  They out grew the old packing shed and built a new production facility and office space about a half mile from the farm in 2008.  
Moving down the road in November of 2017 they now share a historic farmhouse with Seven Ponds Winery on Betzold Road.
